MakeCode with Microsoft at Bett Show

Open to teachers, parent and students - Microsoft MakeCode is an, open source platform for creating engaging computer science learning experiences that support a progression path into real-world programming.

Microsoft will be bringing MakeCode to Bett this year, so you can get hands on and learn how to code in real time with no experience needed!

As an educator, you will also see how some schools and educators are creating inclusive, engaging learning experiences with Microsoft MakeCode.

10-11am MakeCode Arcade
Learn about the new Microsoft MakeCode Arcade– a 2D game development environment entirely online. In this workshop, attendees can expect to get hands-on creating simple 2D games using Microsoft MakeCode, and get access to curriculum and resources they can use in the classroom. No prior experience required.

11-12pm MakeCode for micro:bit
Learn about this little device which is making a big impact in CS education around the world. In this workshop, attendees can expect to gethands-on creating MakeCode projects with the micro:bit, and get access to curriculum and resources they can use in the classroom. No prior experience required.

 

12-1pm MakeCode for Cue

Come join us to learn about Microsoft MakeCode for Wonder Workshop’s Cue robot.  Using robotics to teach computer science concepts is a powerful way to engage every student in computational thinking.  In this workshop, attendees can expect to get hands-on working in groups to build MakeCode projects for Cue robots, and get access to curriculum and resources they can use in the classroom. No prior experience required. 

1-2pm MakeCode for Minecraft
Spawn bouncing pigs, automate construction projects with an Agent robot, and build mini-games… learning computer science has never been so much fun! In this workshop, attendees can expect to get hands-on creating simple mods in Minecraft using Microsoft MakeCode, and get access to curriculum and resources they can use in the classroom. No prior experience required.
