BETT 2021 CANCELLATION

Is the show being cancelled?

After exhaustive conversations with our customers and visitors, and as a consequence of changing government restrictions following the significant escalation of Covid-19 cases in the UK, we have reached the view that we have no option but to cancel Bett 2021.

 

Why isn’t the show being postponed/rescheduled for later in the year?

We took lots of factors into consideration when deciding to cancel, rather than postpone the show. They include

  • Ensuring that if we couldn’t run in January we allowed for a few months after so we could take account of all new government guidance and additional health and safety measures, and that our customers would have adequate time to also prepare for these
  • Ensuring we avoid the school holidays and exam periods so that many of our UK visitors are able to attend
  • Ensuring that we allow enough time for both us and our customers after a rescheduled event to run again in January 2022, as we know the beginning-of-year timing of the show is a critical one for capitalizing on end of year school budgets as well as new budgets coming in
  • Ensuring we could secure the required tenancy with the ExCeL

Ultimately based on the reasons above we decided to cancel rather than to postpone the show

ROLLOVER TO BETT 2022

What happens to my stand booking/contract and/or sponsorship booking/contract?

We’re pleased to let you know that we are rolling all Bett 2021 exhibitor and sponsor contracts over to the 2022 show, with the new dates of 19-21 January 2022. That means that as well as locking in your existing rate, you also lock in your same (preferred) stand location/sponsorship package.

VIRTUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN 2021

Is Bett going virtual in January?

We won’t be hosting Bett-as-you-know-it online in January. Instead, we are focused on rolling exhibitors over to the next in-person edition and planning for a successful 2022 show.

We do recognise the urgent need to bring our community together to learn from this past year and to prepare for the future. With that in mind, and in response to feedback from our visitors, we will be running 3 days of virtual content in January focusing on CPD and product discovery.

More information on our virtual event will be shared in the coming weeks.

We are also excited to be partnering with Learnit on our “Virtual Introductions” programme. An online version of our highly successful in-person ‘Hosted Leaders’ programme launched onsite at Bett 2020, when 30 companies took part in a series of 15 minute 1-2-1 meetings with qualified school leaders and budget holders. Following the success of this programme, and in response to the urgent need to connect schools and institutions with EdTech solution providers, we are taking it online during the first week of February. The price is £250 per meeting, available in packages of 10.

This 1-2-1 meeting programme is unlike any other you may have seen because it is double opt-in, so both the buyer and the solution provider have to agree to it, meaning that all meetings are highly relevant. Also, if a meeting doesn’t happen, you get your money for that meeting back.

BETT AWARDS

What about the Bett Awards? Will they be taking place virtually or will they also be cancelled?

The Bett Awards will be going ahead at a later on 16 June 2021. We will be sharing details on the new timelines shortly.

If you have already entered then you don’t need to do anything else. We will be in touch in the coming weeks on the next steps as we enter the judging process.

If you have not yet entered but were thinking about doing so, there is still time. We will be reopening the entry process over November. Look out for details on this that will be coming soon.
