Touchable Universe's success story

Following a one year research and development programme, Touchable Universe was ready to launch the company and its primary product – Anarkik3D, a touch-enabled 3D sketch/modelling software package. Current virtual reality solutions do not give the user an idea of what the object they are studying actually feels like and so the technology behind Anarkik3D is designed to solve this by bringing a sense of touch to the virtual world.

Anarkik3D helps students to understand physical forces such as earthquakes, the movement of sub-atomic particles and gravity on different planets. This capability has great potential for helping people who prefer kinaesthetic (physical experience) learning, such as students with special needs, or when teaching complex subjects such as physics.

"We’re very happy with the results we’ve achieved at Bett. Using the feedback from people who’ve tried anarkik3d, we aim to be back next year with a product we can sell.”

Sean McDougall, CEO, Touchable Universe

Touchable Universe

Challenge:

Current virtual reality solutions do not give the user an idea of what the object they are studying actually feels like and so the technology behind Anarkik3D is designed to solve this by bringing a sense of touch to the virtual world.

The Objective:

Build awareness of the company and generate feedback to identify where development of the technology should be focused to turn it into a product.

The Bett solution

Touchable Universe chose to launch at Bett, firstly because the timing worked perfectly with the completion of their year-long development project and, secondly, because during previous visits they’d explored Bett Futures and liked the special atmosphere in this area dedicated to start ups.

The company worked very closely with the Bett team to ensure they made the most of the opportunities the show offers. This included support with stand design and the messaging used in pre-show marketing including social media, the website and the Bett Guide.

Results achieved:

  • 50 sales leads generated
  • Identified 6 international distributors
  • Immediate feedback accelerated product development
  • Increased brand awareness
