Abi will be reviewing the current system for use of technology in access arrangements – the adjustments that are supposed to ensure that candidates with SEND can take part in exams on a fair basis. She’ll explore how proving SEND students with assistive technology in exams instead of ‘scribes’ or ‘readers’ can support both students’ educational needs and their independence. She will also look at some of the key steps schools need to take to implement assistive technology successfully in exams and how that can have wider benefits for the academic and employment opportunities for students.
