Bett announces new leadership and the launch of a Global Education Council22 Jan 2019
Bett, the world’s leading EdTech event, is delighted to announce two further management changes and the launch of a new Global Education Council. The Bett Global Education Council will bring together key leaders and stakeholders in education across the globe, to ensure a united voice in the development of the global education agenda.
Leading this initiative is José Papa, an esteemed leader within the TMT sector, who has been appointed in an advisory role as Chairman of the Bett portfolio, effective immediately. José most recently served as MD of Cannes Lions, and prior to that as the Global CEO of WGSN. Earlier in his career, José was responsible for the acquisition of Educar, now a key cornerstone of the Bett portfolio. José’s lifelong interest in education and education policy, as well as his knowledge of the Bett global series of shows and the customers and markets which they serve, make him the ideal Chairman for the Bett portfolio.
Supporting José and the rest of the Bett leadership team, Eve Harper will take up the position of Event Director for the UK Bett show, effective from 15th February. Eve will be reporting to Rachel Brodie, Global Portfolio Director of Bett. Having previously worked on Bett summits, including launching Bett MEA, Eve has an in-depth knowledge of this iconic event, and she will be a great addition to the team. Eve has most recently led Africa Oil Week, where she achieved the event’s highest ever growth rate. Both of these events are part of the global Brands portfolio, led by Elizabeth Deeming.
Both of these appointments will help to deliver the next phase of investment in the brand and to continue to deliver growth across Bett’s 2020 shows. This follows the significant investment and management restructure announced last year, when ITE Group acquired the Ascential Events brands. The portfolio also continues to work closely with BESA, its main strategic partner, on guiding customers across the edtech spectrum.
Mark Shashoua, CEO of ITE Group plc, commented: “Bett is a market-leading, global brand dedicated to driving the education agenda by bringing together those who want to create a better future by transforming education. I am delighted that José has agreed to take up this advisory role, particularly given his long-standing interest in Educar, and I am confident that with José and Eve now added to the leadership team we will continue to see Bett go from strength to strength.”
José Papa, Chairman of Bett, commented: “Education is the world’s engine for development and the Bett portfolio is the global centre stage for it. I couldn’t feel more enthused and proud to be part of such an exciting venture together with the most visionary leaders.”
