Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Shakespeare, Queen Nzinga and Ada Lovelace in the classroom. A new digital approach to character education and cross-curricular learning is helping schools foster perseverance, kindness, creativity and innovation. Press Release - January 2019 "Intelligence plus character. That is the goal of true education" Martin Luther King Jr. Amazing People Schools is a new interactive website which supports students to develop the characteristics and skills they need to confidently face life’s opportunities and challenges. It has been developed around a multimedia story library that features some of the world’s most amazing people and supports students aged 9-14 to develop important characteristics such as confidence, tolerance and innovation. Teachers can access a wide range of resources including assemblies, lesson starters as well as full lesson plans. The student zone enables students to delve into the lives of amazing people such as Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie and Michelangelo. Engagement is driven through interactive quizzes with rewards that include avatar wardrobe items such as Ada Lovelace’s amazing hair or Abebe Bikila’s Olympic gold medal. A focus on “the whole student” has been growing in recent years and this building support for character education is in line with Ofsted's new framework announced on 16 Jan 2019. It focuses on the creation of “a positive learning environment in all schools” that encourages students to "behave with consistently high respect for others". Developed by psychologist Dr Charles Margerison and his team who have previously worked with BBC Learning and Collins on other inspirational educational projects, they have worked closely with schools across the country over the past two years to develop this new resource. Amazing People Schools will be launching their new site at BETT and would like to encourage schools with pupils of KS2 and/or KS3 to sign up for a free trial to see how this new website could benefit their school and support their students to thrive. “Students can better understand important characteristics such as perseverance and kindness through these stories, whilst developing their own character and preparing for life after school ... Amazing People Schools, when used well, is a level for social mobility.” Liz Bone, Head Teacher, Weald of Kent Grammar School, UK Contact: Frances Corcoran info@amazingpeopleschools.com / frances@amazingpeopleschools.com m: (44) 7912 101094 For further information visit our website: www.amazingpeopleschools.com or complete our enquiry form.
