In 2006 we were asked to radically overhaul our Y7 curriculum in order to improve behaviour and achievement. By using large blocks of time, embedding ICT skills and plenty of practical activities/outdoor learning we found that behaviour became a diminished concern and we could concentrate of aspiration and achievement. By the end of the second year we had a cohort of 30 students who had achieved a GCSE equivalency in ICT and were deemed excellent by Ofsted. Toyin Onisemo is a teacher of ICT at Parkwood Academy and has been key in planning how to deliver the ICT strands in an innovative and original way. Derryth Webster is Vice Principal (from Sept 09) at Parkwood Academy and has led the team in planning and delivery of the Competency based curriculum in Y7 and Y8.

  • Toyin Onisemo, Teacher
  • Ms Derryth Webster, Parkwood Academy (SSAT), Vice Principal
