Seminars - C.A.L.L. – Communicative Aspects of Learning and Life
Seminar Details SEMINAR BOOKING CODE: SE13 C.A.L.L. – Communicative Aspects of Learning and Life – a new electronic resource which is used to inform and plan the set up and running of social skills groups This resource aims to support, encourage and facilitate the development and use of both non-verbal and verbal interactive social and communication skills. The package addresses the needs of children and young people across the full ability and age range. It aims to promote those social communication skills which underpin the student’s ability to interact with others and access other strategies within school such as SEAL. It provides student profiles of core skills which then act as a starting point for intervention in the form of social skills groups where skills are modeled, role played and rehearsed until they are established. Activities to cover all core areas are provided across 4 levels to ensure maximum impact. The package is currently being developed in North Lincolnshire in a collaborative project between Education and Health. St Hugh’s, as a Communication and Interaction Specialist College, has had a major role in the development of this by providing the technical backup and host website as well as inputting to the content of the package. I will discuss the development of this package and the impact it is having in both Mainstream and Special, Primary and Secondary Schools.
