Seminars - ‘Power Up’: How ICT is transforming BSF schools
Seminar Details SEMINAR BOOKING CODE: PO22 The Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme will see every state secondary school in England – around 3,500 in total – rebuilt or remodelled over the next 15-20 years. BSF is the largest and most ambitious scheme of its kind anywhere in the world, but it is not just a building programme: it aims to create learning environments which inspire all young people to reach their full potential; to provide teachers with 21st century workplaces; and to provide access to facilities which can be used by all members of the local community. In this seminar, Steve Moss will explore how the new BSF schools are developing partnerships with their ICT providers. He will give examples of how ICT managed services are being implemented, and will examine how, in partnership, local authorities, schools and providers are looking at creative, innovative, area-wide solutions to raise standards and provide educational opportunities. The ICT solutions being implemented are changing the way teachers teach and learners learn. By BETT 2010, BSF will be in its sixth year with around 100 schools open, Steve will reflect how the BSF ICT programme has developed, how the engagement of stakeholders ensures that the programme continues to reflect the ICT needs of schools, and the ever-increasing role ICT plays in transforming education.
