Seminars - Computer Games Based Learning in Secondary Schools
Seminar Details SEMINAR BOOKING CODE: IN22 It is often argued that making games based learning happen in a secondary schools is more of a challenge than it is in the primary setting. This is partly because of the boundaries created by discrete subject areas and the confines of timetabling. This presentation will focus on how the management team and teachers at Musselburgh Grammar School have taken games based learning forward in an innovative yet strategic manner. Examples will include how the school has used games such as Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training, Big Brain Academy, Guitar Hero, My French Coach and Buzz the Schools Quiz. There will also be an opportunity to learn about how the schools have been working on a computer games design project across a number of subject areas. Games based learning can happen successfully in the secondary setting; this presentation will show you how you can make it work it for you. Most importantly the presentation will be lively and motivating and any of the examples given will be able to be replicated and scaled up by any school or authority.
