Visitor Testimonials

Jamie Brotherton, teacher from Ty Gwyn Special School, a primary and secondary special school in Cardiff, Wales:

“This year, with minimum planning, my colleagues and I were able to find what we were looking for. We were interested in SEN products and used the Special Needs route planner which was really useful.  Before coming to BETT, we knew that we wanted to look for a range of new software for our school and we’ve come away with four or five products in mind. We’ll definitely be coming back next year!”

David Ford, assistant headteacher and Russell Sullivan, teacher, at Castle View School, Canvey Island, Essex:

“Our school is part of the Building Schools for the Future programme with our new school opening in 2011, and we are planning our transformation of education through technology. We are fully involved in the process with the Essex Local Authority and are working with teachers, students, governors and parents. We have been fortunate enough to have been invited to bring our Year seven students to BETT so that they can get a real feel for the technology.”

Castle View Schools students Rosie Sayers, Ella Boomer (both 11):

“The show has been really fun; we have been helping people and explaining how the computers work. We have been on the SMART Boards, and the touch screen computers.  The PDAs are fun as they are portable. Teachers have asked us if we have used it, they are curious how it works. They have asked us lots of questions, like what we liked best.”

Lewis Hughes, senior network technician at Ravens Wood School, Bromley (a secondary boys’ school):

“I was asked to come to BETT this year for the first time because of my role at school. I came with two colleagues for a general browse but also to find some furniture and hardware solutions. We’ve found lots of new companies but also discovered some new products from companies we already knew. We’ll now be going back to school to do some further research from things we found out at BETT.”

Clare Mackenzie, school business manager and Janet Barrett, headteacher at Oak Lodge Primary School, Bromley (a primary school):

“We came with two other colleagues, most of us having been to BETT before.  This time we decided to stay together which has been great as we’ve had the chance to focus together on resources that we’ve seen with no distractions. Usually we don’t get that luxury at school!  We came with a list of VLEs from Bromley and have now visited these providers to help decide the way forward for our school.”

Paul Hughes, ICT services manager, Sir Charles Lucas Arts College, Essex:

“I came to BETT as I am thinking of making a number of changes at our school in terms of ICT and equipment, and what a great show! There’s just not enough time to see everything!”

Sander Huiswoud, ICT teacher, Prof Dr R Casirmirschool, Netherlands:

“This is my first time to BETT and I came because I want to make my classroom more interactive. I’m completely overwhelmed by the diversity of products on offer and the different ways technology can be used – I’ll definitely go back to Holland with some brilliant ideas.”

Martin Page, IT technician, Kent:

“This is my ninth year of coming to BETT! It is very useful in terms of providing schools with the latest information on technology and what it can do for you.”

Exhibitor Testimonials

Andy Clarke, marketing manager, Serco Learning:

“BETT 2009 was a fantastic success for Serco. We were really impressed with the amount of high-quality, well-informed visitors who came by the stand. It was constantly bustling with teachers, educators and leaders –the show floor was busier than ever!”

David Wray, CEO of Global Digital Broadcast (GDB), said:

“BETT was a fantastic opportunity for us to display, to the correct delegates, our groundbreaking Educational TV platform called Educast. We had a very positive response from everyone we met and this has acted as a springboard for us because we have now been named in the DIUS whitepaper for Adult learning, as the platform for this project.”

Nicola Newman, director of marketing, Ramesys, said:

“The BETT team understand their market and their product and work coherently and consistently to maximise the benefits of BETT for a very diverse set of audiences. The exhibitors and delegates are well managed and communicated with; but so are the Government and its agencies, the media, and the growing number of international stakeholders.”

Nicki Walker, marketing manager, Renaissance Learning, said:

“Renaissance Learning has been exhibiting at BETT for many years, and for us it remains the education event to see and be seen at.  As our literacy and numeracy software solutions are primarily web-based, it is always good to meet existing and potential customers face-to-face, and BETT provides the perfect opportunity to meet teachers and other education professionals from across the UK and beyond.  Given the state of the global economy we weren’t sure what to expect in 2009, but were pleasantly surprised to see an increase in visitor numbers.”

Jane Charlton, commercial manager, REM:

“This year at BETT we’ve found it a lot busier than previous years. There is generally a good range of visitors – as well as the UK we sell to the international market so it’s great to see a lot more coming from overseas.”

Siobhan Hall, director of sales, Tribal:

“The first day of BETT was a great success as it was busier than ever! We’ve seen people we would want to see, across all areas of education.”

Darren Griffiths, marketing manager, Mind your IT:

“This is our first year at BETT, and although before the show we weren’t too sure as to how successful it would be, we’ve already re-booked for next year! We’re really impressed with the amount of visitors, and everyone who has walked past our stand is relevant.”
