Head of Sixth Form, St Joseph’s Catholic High School

I graduated from Cardiff University in 2008 and trained as a Social Science teacher at Yateley School, Hampshire. Before moving to Salesian School as Head of Social Sciences, increasing A-B grades to 65% over 3 years and securing grade 2 ALPS consistently.

Since May 2014 I have been working at St Joseph’s Catholic High School in Slough, a mixed comprehensive school, which was in real danger of closure.  58% of our students speak English as a second language. Since 2014 applications have increased from 17 to 140, since 2015 100% of sixth form students have had a destination when leaving, with 85% of students going to university in 2016 (several to Russell group) - all the first generation in their family to go. Last year Ofsted judged us ‘good’ in every category.

Outside of work, I spend the majority of my holidays working with street children and orphans in Thailand. Something I have been doing since I began teaching.
