Scott Hayden

Digital Innovation Specialist

Scott is a Lecturer/ Teacher Trainer/ Digital Learning Ambassador/ Manager in charge of a cross-college team that supports and trains all staff in using educational technology, social media, industry connections, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

In 2014 Scott was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for innovative use of Social Media and application of Educational Technology and has received praise and recognition for his work developing new approaches to teaching and learning in the online community (all resources are available for others to adapt and use for free).

The techniques and style of teaching and assessing Scott has developed have been cited by Edexcel and Ofsted as outstanding practice of engaging both students and industry.

As well as running a blog for his students Scott writes pieces for The Times, Edudemic, Pedagoo, #ukfechat and the recent FE book ‘Don’t Change the Lightbulbs’ as well as providing training for his peers. Scott is also a National Advisor for The Education Foundation and Ed Tech UK contributing to Reports and creating Documentaries around the UK about the best edtech practice in FE.

Scott was honoured to be shortlisted for the TES FE Awards for ‘Teacher of the Year 2015’ and now lead the BCoT Digital team currently shortlisted for 2017 in the 'Outstanding use of technology for improving teaching, learning and assessment' category. He has also recently spoken at The Times Education Festival and other AoC events about his practice.

In addition to Scotts role as an Educator he produces and directs music videos for independent artists and takes his students on set with him to help them gain work experience.
