Flipped learning in action
A sneak peek at flipped learning
So, there's currently a lot of hype around this 'flipped learning' approach. We've been spending time with flipped learning extraordinaire Kirsty Tonks, and we have to say, it's certainly hype-worthy! It's apparently so efficient it's been likened to recycling time... Kirsty will be joining us in person at Bett to tell us what all the fuss is about, but as a prelude, here is the Shireland Collegiate Academy team in action.
Hear from Kirsty Tonks at Bett 2016
Kirsty Tonks, Assistant Principal for e-learning and Teaching School Director at Shireland Collegiate Academy, in the West Midlands and has led on embedding technology since 2007. She has taught across both the Primary and Secondary Sector for almost two decades and provides the strategic lead on how to enable and use technology to affect whole school sustained school improvement.
In their recent Ofsted inspection in March 2013, inspectors acknowledged the role that technology had in “underpinning” outstanding lessons and how leadership and management of learning were “strategically supported by the innovative use of ICT (the Learning Gateway).” The academy was judged to be Outstanding across all categories and was the third time it had been judged as Outstanding.
She will be speaking at the Learn Live Primary Theatre on the 22nd of Jan, covering "What's all the fuss about 'Flipping Learning'?"
