Young people now use Social Media as part of their everyday lives and at Catmose College, we use fully moderated social media in a fun and educational way to enthuse and motivate our students to improve their literacy and life skills without them actually realising it. We have embedded the Safe, Educational Social Media and BETT award winning (2012) website- MakeWav.es into our curriculum as it allows our students to showcase their work as well as providing an electronic portfolio of their work. As they become used to using the format, we see our students writing about issues that concern them during their own time. The comments section allows anyone to provide real time feedback. Curriculum based resources and projects are produced by MakeWav.es to support and encourage teaching and learning as well as full network support. Our MakeWav.es site had won awards for the last three years.
