Explore the pioneering work of Professor Stephen Heppell and the schools, colleges and companies he helps to flourish.
Professor Stephen Heppell has been described as "Europe's leading
online learning expert" and "the most influential academic of recent
years in the field of technology and education". Every year, Stephen sets
up camp for four days at the heart of the Bett exhibition, giving live
demonstrations of how creativity, flexibility and technology can combine to
transform learning and teaching in schools.
At Bett 2013, Stephen will widen
his focus, letting Bett visitors explore the freshest thinking and the best
work happening in schools, colleges, universities and in the workplace.
In an era of tight money, helping each other with
learning is attractive, but a series of global trends have shown it also to be
desirable, and highly effective.
It is technology that has unlocked the door to so much effective
collaborative learning between learners of all ages, in all institutions, across cultures, across time and distance, bridging generations - and that is what we will be showcasing on Bett's Feature Stand this year.
Younger children working with older children chase
after the role models of the older ones, who in turn raise their leadership
skills and cement their own subject understandings by working with the
youngsters. University students produce remarkable creative work which
inspires youngsters and creative tech-rich undergraduate work will also be
highlighted on the feature. Mixing ages in learning can be very powerful.
When times get tough, teamwork matters and children
supporting each other in their project work, collaborating, building and
sharing together, also need new approaches to the design of learning spaces,
both physical and online. These new spaces will also be highlighted on the
feature, as will children working between cultures and nations. Collaboration
knows no bounds.
And the corporate sector too, moving rapidly from
relying on training for the known, to embracing learning in preparation for the
unknown, is feeling the benefit from learning together with education.
Even parents and grandparents are in on the act
with, for example, reading support through video linking and through Reader
Leaders in the community, themselves up-skilled though online
resources and support.
Learning Together
will be at the heart of where education is going worldwide, with technology as
the key enabler. On this year's Bett Feature Stand you can sample the
experience, talk to participants, admire the outcomes, feel the excitement and
as ever, get a real heads-up on important future directions.

NETGEAR UK Ltd is proud to be partnering with Heppell.net to
produce the ‘Learning Together’ feature on stand E70 near the main entrance at

connecting, collaborating and learning with other schools globally, across the
Internet. NETGEAR will be there as champions of connectivity to ensure a fast
connection for the children and to demonstrate its expertise in providing
reliable, affordable and simple networking technology to the Educational
